Breaking News: DPN Documentary Selected for Sundance Film Festival
Deaf President Now!, a new groundbreaking documentary film from Apple Original Films, has been accepted into the 2025 Sundance Film Festival! Gallaudet University has been proudly collaborating with alumnus Nyle DiMarco, ’13, and Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim from Concordia Studio on this film.

The impact of the Deaf President Now (DPN) protests in 1988 continue to be felt. Gallaudet’s campus has been recognized by the Cultural Landscape Foundation as the site of a landmark disability rights protest. Dr. McCaskill Receives Schuchman Deaf History Award
Dr. Carolyn D. McCaskill, ’77, G-’79, & PhD ’05, is the third recipient of the Dr. John S. and Betty J. Schuchman Deaf History Award. The award is given every five years to recognize significant scholarship in the field of Deaf history. A well-deserved honor for Dr. McCaskill!
The Association for Experiential Education selected Jean Berube, retired Gallaudet Professor, to deliver their annual Ewald and Hahn Address. This honor is given to an individual who has made significant contributions to experiential education, demonstrating both leadership and global impact. Congratulations to Professor Berube!
Research Excellence Award recipients share findings

Global Gallaudet Celebration showcases power of international learning
Gallaudet’s influence has made it the center of education and advocacy for deaf and hard of hearing people around the world. This year marked the inaugural Global Gallaudet Celebration (GGC), a four-day event to honor Gallaudet’s 160-year legacy of global impact.
The Senior Instructional Support Coordinator at Clerc Center helps teachers diagnose student needs more analytically, interprets and applies student data to inform instructional planning, applies evidence-based instructional strategies to enhance teaching, assesses student learning, and evaluates instructional effectiveness.
